WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?
Technically, no. We have a shop dog for the store (our employee-of-the-month, Athena) and I don’t want people bringing in their own dogs without them at least already knowing Athena. Don’t get me wrong, she is generally very friendly with dogs and humans alike, but you never know how other dogs are going to react or how Athena will enjoy sharing her space with other pups, and I don’t want to have any potentially tense interactions in such a cozy space.
ARE YOU DOG FRIENDLY?
There are two ways you can get involved with this if you are looking specifically for a pen pal: 1) you can write an introductory letter to one (or more) of the other shops listed on the Sunday Letter Project website, and/or 2) you can respond to one of the introductory letters we receive here at the shop. I try to post about the letters we receive every Sunday, but so far the intro letters we’ve been getting are snatched up super fast, so you gotta be quick about responding if you want to wait on an intro letter to get started.
Some things to consider: if you send a letter abroad, you’ll want to be sure you use at least three forever stamps; you can send multiple introductory letters; if you use PigeonPosted letter sets, be sure you write “to” and “from” because they keep getting sent to the person who is sending them; and lastly, make sure you use the address for Athena Stationery & Cafe as your return address (1004 Brookstown Ave, Winston-Salem, NC, 27101).
HOW DO I GET INVOLVED WITH THE SUNDAY LETTER PROJECT?
We often get asked if we sell big name brands such as Hobonichi, Traveler’s, etc. The answer is, we plan to, but many of the big name brands require a store to be open at least a year before they are able to sell their products wholesale. So, don’t worry, we will get there, but we have to wait til our first birthday :)
In the meantime, we are happy to hear what you’d like to see more of or products you definitely want us to look into.
